The Brief

Develop a cohesive suite of launch imagery to introduce the Ragan Skin makeup range and accompanying makeup brush.

The content needed to establish a premium, modern brand presence from launch, clearly communicating product quality, skin finish, and application, while remaining flexible for ongoing brand, digital, and marketing use.

CONTENT REQUIRED

  • Model and Hand based Imagery

  • Still Life

  • Product

Challenges & Planning

As the launch of the makeup range and brush was a first for the brand, there was no pre-existing visual language, concept framework or defined creative story for this product category.

This required establishing a clear creative direction from the outset, translating brand values into a visual system that could support product, beauty and lifestyle imagery. The resulting visual strategy balanced clean product representation with authentic beauty application, ensuring both clarity and emotional resonance within a unified aesthetic.

Role & Responsibilities

I led the project end-to-end, spanning creative concept development, visual direction, studio production, photography, and post-production.

This allowed for tight control over lighting, texture, colour, and skin tone, ensuring the launch imagery established a consistent and considered visual foundation for the brand moving forward.

Creative Approach

The creative approach focused on simplicity, tactility, and restraint to allow the products and skin finish to speak for themselves.

Controlled, soft lighting was used to enhance texture and complexion without over-polishing, while neutral backdrops and materials created a clean, contemporary environment for both the makeup range and brush.

Beauty application imagery was treated with the same level of precision as the still life work, ensuring a seamless relationship between product-only and in-use imagery.

Key Creative Decisions

  • Use of controlled studio lighting to maintain consistency across skin tones and product finishes.

  • Minimal, neutral environments to keep focus on texture, form and application.

  • Close-up beauty framing to highlight product performance and skin finish.

  • A restrained colour palette to support a premium, modern brand launch.

  • Careful retouching to preserve natural skin detail and avoid an over-processed look.
